Chamber of Commerce: The revitalization of Downtown Wilkes-Barre is a key part of the Chamber’s strategy to enhance the quality of life and the economy of Greater Wilkes-Barre and their region, and they have dedicated enormous time and resources to that goal. A cornerstone of their strategy has been the development of the Northampton & Main complex - known as "University Corners" On December 11, 2008 the Chamber of Business and Industry reached another milestone in that effort with the announcement of Northampton & Main's sale to two private developers. Carlsberg Management Company, of Los Angeles, California, has assumed control of NHM's commercial component, anchored by Wilkes-Barre Movies 14, which also includes approximately 30,000 square feet of first floor commercial space and the building’s garage. The existing commercial tenants - RC Theatres, Blue Chip Gourmet Cookies, Beefy King, Tilburys Knob and Januzzi's - will soon be joined by others, building upon their initial success. At the same time, WB 14, a company managed by Susquehanna Real Estate of York, Pennsylvania, has assumed control of NHM's residential component - an additional 30,000 square feet of space on the project's second and third floors - where they will construct and sell 21 market-rate loft condominium residences. Carlsberg Management and Colliers Arnold have teamed up on several entertainment / retail projects with very successful results and look forward to making University Corners one of their most successful ventures together. The solid results obtained by these two companies have been based on a solid business plan, detailed site evaluation packages, and one of the best marketing / property management teams that creates excitement within the centers 12 months out of the year.
